What To Do with a Busy Toddler

Elin at Hitchin Lavendar Farm | Day Out and What To Do with a Toddler

The other day, Elin and I paid a little visit to Hitchin Lavendar Farm. Just under an hour's drive away from London, the lavendar fields were brimming with rows of fresh lavendar and buzzing bees.

Elin was a little afraid of the bees but to be fair, there were rather a lot of them! However, to put our minds at ease, they were far more interested in the lavendar than buzzing around Elin. It's hard to recall being Elin's size but I can understand her apprehension of seeing the bees up close like that. Once she got over them, Elin really enjoyed this new experience of walking through the lavendar fields.

Due to covid, you need to pre-book your tickets and you're limited to a 2 hour slot but to be honest, with a little toddler, this was perfect and 2 hours gives plenty of time to walk up and down the aisles and then to enjoy a little ice cream together, as we did.

It was a boiling hot day when we went, so we packed plenty of sunscreen, a wide brimmed hat, lots of water and fresh snacks such as cucumber sticks and summer berries (Elin can't get enough of them... we'll need to visit a Pick Your Own farm soon!) and for me, the comfiest of trainers as I knew I'd be chasing after Elin as soon as we arrived.

If you're stuck for something to do with your little one, and Hitchin isn't too far for you, it really does make for a wonderful outing for everyone. And, if you go early in the morning, you can be home in time for lunch and that all important noon nap!

I'm always looking for new places to visit with Elin and things to do so if you have any suggestions, please let me know! xx
