What Shoes to Wear for Valentine’s Day? Comfort, Style and Real Life

Instead of telling you what shoes you should wear for Valentine’s Day, we wanted to understand what women are actually planning to wear and why.
For decades, Valentine’s Day footwear has been defined by one idea: heels, with discomfort being part of the aesthetic.
But life has changed, and so too has our interpretation of Valentine’s Day. Rarely do Valentine’s plans start at 7pm. They begin with commutes, school runs, full workdays, travel, walking, standing, and being on our feet long before dinner reservations come into play. And because of this, women are increasingly choosing shoes that support their whole day, rather than just the evening.
With this in mind, we spoke to four Cocorose customers and asked them a simple question:
What shoes will you be wearing this Valentine’s Day?
Their answers tell a far more interesting story than tradition ever did. With comfort and a stylish nod to Valentine’s Day taking top priority, they’ve chosen trainers with red metallic hearts, dusky pink leather flats and lots of leopard print.
Here’s what they told us.
“For Valentine’s Day, I’ll be wearing my Hoxton Red Heart Trainers.”
— Sophie
“For Valentine’s Day, I’ll be wearing my Hoxton red heart trainers. This year, Valentine’s Day falls on a Saturday, but I’ve arranged to meet friends after work on the Friday instead, so we’ll be doing a joint Friday the 13th and Valentine’s Day celebration. I’ll head straight out from work, so I need something that would see me through from morning to evening without me having to even think about it.
“I’ll probably wear my black slip dress with grey chunky knit as it’s still freezing cold. Nothing too styled or over the top. And definitely trainers. My Hoxton heart trainers will just give a little nod to Valentine’s without feeling try-hard. Plus they’re super comfortable for my commute, smart for work and I know my feet won’t be aching by the time I sit down with a glass of fizz.
“Honestly, I love that I don’t have to change shoes and that I can just wear trainers to work and then to the pub. I just put them on and get on with my day.”

“I’ll be in my Moorgate Leopard Trainers because they just go with everything.”
— Anna
“For Valentine’s Day, I’ll be wearing my Moorgate leopard trainers. This year it’s a Saturday, so it’ll be a full-on family day rather than anything traditionally romantic, but that’s just life at this stage.
“My mornings usually start with the school run during the week, but on Saturdays it’s football practice for one child, drama class for the other and usually a birthday party squeezed in somewhere in the afternoon. There’s a lot of walking, standing around sidelines, chatting to other parents and dashing between places. I need shoes that just work without me thinking about them.
“I tend to live in wide-leg jeans, a simple knit and a coat thrown on top. The Moorgate leopard trainers are perfect because they feel easy and comfortable, but they still look styled. I love that they’re streamlined rather than bulky. They don’t feel like ‘sports trainers’, but they still give me the support I need for busy days on my feet.
“If we end up doing something in the evening, even if it’s just a casual dinner, I don’t feel like I’ll need to change. My Moorgates carry me through the whole day and honestly, I love them for that.”
The Moorgate Leopard Trainers are a perfect example of how leather trainers can feel polished while still supporting busy, on-your-feet days.
“For Valentine’s Day, I’ll be packing my Harrow flats. We’re going to Paris.”
— Sara
“For Valentine’s Day, we’re going to Paris for the weekend, hand luggage only. I’ll be packing my Harrow leopard ballet flats because they fold up and are perfectly compact for travelling.
“I’m sure I’ll be walking all day and wandering around the museums, cafés and along the Seine, before heading out for dinner in the evening, so I need shoes that can do both. These are soft, comfortable and they look chic for evenings too.
“I’ve learned the hard way that sightseeing in the wrong shoes can ruin a trip. These are the ones I always end up going for.”
Our Harrow ballet flats are part of our foldable shoes range, designed to pack compactly into hand luggage while still offering the comfort needed for full days of walking and evenings out.
“I’ll be wearing my Clapham flats to the theatre and for the whole evening.”
— Maya
“For Valentine’s Day, I’ve booked theatre tickets in the West End, so I’ll be wearing my Clapham dusky pink flats. I want something that feels elegant but doesn’t hurt by the end of the night, especially with all the walking around London and hassle of getting to and from the train station.
“My Claphams work beautifully with tailoring, but they’re also practical. I can walk, sit, stand, clap, walk again, and my feet still feel fine.
“I love that they fold up too. If I ever want to switch into heels, or back out of them afterwards, I can just pop them in my bag. Once you’ve worn shoes that are so soft and that don’t need breaking in, you don’t go back.”
The Clapham leather flats are designed for elegant occasions that still involve real movement, including walking, standing and travelling, and they fold neatly into a bag when you need them to.
Why These Shoes Work for Valentine’s Day (and Real Life)
What all these women have in common isn’t a specific outfit or plan. It’s trust. Trust in shoes they know they can walk in all day (and night), shoes that don’t need breaking in, and shoes that work with their lives rather than against them.
The best Valentine’s Day shoes aren’t worn for just one moment. They support you the whole day, from work to drinks, from train station to theatre and back again, from busy activities with the kids to a casual dinner out and for a weekend trip away.
The Takeaway
You don’t need what would traditionally be known as the perfect Valentine’s Day shoes, but you do need the right pair.
The ones you can rely on. The ones that let you focus on the people you’re with, not the shoes on your feet.
From heart-detailed trainers to leopard-print statements and foldable leather flats designed for real life, Cocorose shoes are made to move with you, wherever Valentine’s Day takes you.
