Spotlight On… Hengelo

Cocorose London wouldn’t be where it is today without the support of our fabulous stockists, so we are looking back on a previous ‘Spotlight On…’  feature and remembering the wonderful fashion boutique Hengelo. Based in Haslemere, SurreyHengelo opened its doors in September 2011 when the founders Kate Payne and Helen Stride took over an existing boutique, bought edited collections that reflected their passion and love of apparel, footwear and accessories.

Cocorose London Hengelo

We look back to Autumn 2012 when we caught up with the lovely Kate, to find out more about their business…

Is there a particular look that you wanted to achieve in your store?

We wanted to shop to have a chic, glamorous look with a relaxed feel. It has bare floorboards and white wardrobes with a gorgeous antique chandelier. We gave the changing rooms a nice heavy pile carpet and thick curtains so ladies feel comfortable and happy in a warm environment. The store has lots of windows so there is plenty of light and we always have music playing to provide and laid back feel to the shop.

What are your current favourite fashion items from your store?

We have many favourites! This summer Oneseason has been our ‘hero’ product, it is an Australian brand of summer clothing in beautiful Indian cotton and silk. The Clapham Coral, this colour has been a great sellout. Another fabulous addition has been Lavenham Jackets, all finest British made quilted jackets.

What are your favourite Cocorose London foldable ballet pumps?

That is a hard question! The Clapham, with woven leather - of course. The gold pumps are gorgeous and always add a touch of glamour to any outfit. We love the collaboration with The Royal Ballet and the pumps have been designed with the same classic elegant feel that you would expect from such an esteemed academy. We are also really excited about the new Spring 13 Collection of Cocorose designs!

How do you ‘Cocorose It’?

Cocorose are fantastic to wear with a summer dress or with neat skinny jeans. They are easy to wear and add a stylish option instead of heels. They are a fabulous accessory if you are going on holiday or if you don’t feel like wearing heels all day. I wear mine on the school run, in the boutique and out and about in town!

Is there anything new happening for SS13? Will you be buying from any new designers or expanding any existing collections?

We have a lot of new exciting developments for SS13. A number of new brands we took on this Autumn, have lovely collections for the Spring, Vilagallo, DL 1961 Denim, Paige Denim and the Spanish brand Yerse. We are also launching online with the help of our brother, and we are so excited to be developing the business to a much wider audience.

To stay up to date with all the happenings at the store, new fashion items, and competitions check out Hengelo’s Facebook page HERE . Or Follow them on Twitter @Hengeloshop.

With thanks to Kate Payne and Helen Stride.
