It was the night before Christmas and the young Clara crept downstairs to the magical Christmas tree where she picked out her favourite present – a Nutcracker. Little did she know of the magical adventures that would soon unfold before her, as she and the Nutcracker journeyed through the Land of Snow, waltzing with a flurry of snowflakes, to the Kingdom of Sweets where she would meet the Sugar Plum Fairy…
This is the story of The Nutcracker. One of the world’s most popular ballets, The Nutcracker premiered in St Petersburg on the 18th of December, 1892.
It has since become a Christmas box office favourite with The Royal Ballet and choreographer Peter Wright’s classic production brings this enchanting story vividly to life.
This year, The Royal Ballet celebrates Peter Wright’s 90th birthday with his iconic production of this stunning classical ballet, danced to Tchaikovsky’s magnificent score.
In collaboration with The Royal Ballet, we have created two new shoe designs inspired by the beautiful, flurrying snowflakes from The Nutcracker’s Waltz of the Snowflakes.
