How To Dress Like A Royal

The Summer Season’s Social Edit

The season has arrived… An endless whirl of summer’s social events where what you wear is just as important as the invitation…

From summer weddings to Graduation to the Queen’s Garden Party, the social calendar calls for smart dressing and even smarter footwear that will have you still standing tall long past the reception welcome drinks.

Below is our edit of three royal summer season events, Royal Ascot, Wimbledon and the Henley Royal Regatta, and we’ve highlighted our pick of the best flats that will ensure your feet are right royally dressed for the occasion.

Royal Ascot takes place on the 18th-23rd June

By far, Royal Ascot is one of the most exciting racing events of the summer and getting dressed for the occasion calls for fabulous-ness and fun. There are strict dressing up protocols that reflect the tradition and history of Royal Ascot, including the requirement to wear a hat and that dresses are of a modest length.

The trick is to look effortlessly stylish  but, as you’ll be on your feet for most of the day watching the races and cheering on your bet, having  comfortable shoes is of the utmost importance. We totally understand the desire to wear heels and dress up your outfit so it’s vital that you take a pair of super stylish and comfortable flats to change into.

We love our Clapham loafers which can be paired with your outfit from the outset or folded into your handbag for instant comfort and style when the heels start to pinch.

Wimbledon runs from the 1st – 14th July

The world’s oldest and most prestigious tennis tournament, Wimbledon marks the start of the British summer and two weeks of glorious tennis, strawberries and cream and bottomless glasses of Pimms, all preferably consumed within the grounds of SW19.

There is no official Wimbledon dress code for spectators, but dressing smartly is encouraged, so wearing the perfect little sundress, preferably in all white, accessorized with your designer shades, Panama hat and smart ballet flats will ensure you can comfortably frequent Centre Court or Court Number One.
Should you not be one of the lucky few to get hold of a golden ticket, Henman Hill or Murray Mound have an electric atmosphere and offers the perfect place for a delightful picnic. Just don’t forget to pack a couple of brollies just in case of the obligatory shower or two and, as you’ll be on grass, heels are a no-no. Opt for flats – ballerinas are ideal as they’re smart, pretty, easy to slip on and off for the picnic blanket and comfy for all day.

Henley Royal Regatta runs from 3rd-7th July

Henley is July’s go-to event, with hundreds of boats rowing up and down the Thames. Think sunny days by the river with you dressed to the nines, including wearing a beautiful straw hat, and enjoying your gourmet picnic whilst watching the boat race.

Keep in mind that inside the Stewards’ Enclosure, there’s a strict dress code and no trousers are allowed for ladies.
