This time, the spotlight is on Hobbs Woman, a gorgeous boutique in Somerset. We spoke to the lovely Rachael, who took some time out of her busy day, to tell us what Hobbs Woman is all about...
When did you open Hobbs Woman and why? Hobbs Woman opened its doors three years ago & has just celebrated its anniversary. The reason I opened Hobbs Woman was simple - I approached my fortieth birthday & felt “lost” as to what to wear & where to find it. I realised there was a gap on the high street for women who wanted to feel on trend but not a fashion victim. We are a small team & my assistant Linda has been with me from day one & has shared my vision for Hobbs Woman. I
s there a particular look that you wanted to achieve in your store? The colour scheme in-store changes seasonally to reflect the colours of the garments arriving. I wanted the look to be stylish yet relaxed and most importantly individual. I think Hobbs Woman has now become a place where women come to feel inspired by fashion and feel that looking current & feeling good can be achieved, easily.
What are your current favourite brands from your store? All of the brands we stock are very carefully chosen & edited so I can honestly say, I love them all. We currently stock Seasalt, Joules, Part Two, Oui, Gardeur & NYDJ. Our clothing style is beautiful, wearable pieces for everyday life.
What are your favourite Cocorose London ballerinas? My personal favourite is the Bayswater Grey with fish leather detailing– I think they are a great colour to see you through most of the year plus I am a big fan of greys. I have just seen the new collection for SS14 & think it is the most gorgeous range yet.
What do you feel makes Hobbs Woman special? The small detail. We have established great rapport & are on first name terms with many of our customers who have been tremendously loyal & supportive. In turn I have a lot of them in mind when I look for new pieces. We also go to great lengths to make Hobbs Woman a relaxing, fun environment with quirky window displays, birthday lists, bespoke bags for their purchases & unusual products and in-store layout to make the whole experience reflect Hobbs Woman’s independence.
What are the essentials every woman needs in their wardrobe this season? A lovely bright (weatherproof) jacket – its needs to be functional with our ever changing weather but look stylish! A pair of stretch skinny jeans are a great investment plus some lightweight knitwear is a good buy. I particularly love this season’s knitwear with contrast sleeves & backs.
