Spotlight On…Orange Tree

The month the Spotlight is on Orange Tree, a gorgeous store in Devon. We spoke with the director of Orange Tree, Li Case, to find out a little more!

Lovely Li looking gorgeous!

So, Li, when did you open The Orange Tree and why?

I set up Orange Tree 15 years ago when I returned from living in the US. I could see a huge gap in the market in the Westcountry for the type of interiors and gifting store that I’d always wanted to own. My passion in life is simply lovely things. Whether intricately made, simply designed or just beautifully natural, things to make your life more fun and gorgeous.

And is there a particular look that you wanted to achieve in your store?

I wanted an interesting shop that everyone could feel comfortable in, simple and always evolving. I love using bold statements of wallpaper and unusual pieces whether furniture, candlesticks, mirrors – anything I can find!

What are your current favourite fashion items from your store?

Cocorose shoes are my favourite at the moment. I’m also really excited by the Markberg handbags that I have coming in soon.

Which Cocorose ballet pumps are your favourite?

My personal favourite are the Canonbury Leopard pumps. I wear them with everything from my jeans to my LBD when my feet are tired of heels at the end of an evening. They work with everything.

What do you feel makes The Orange Tree special?

I think what makes Orange Tree special is that I’m constantly adapting and transforming it into not only a place I want to shop but also an exhilarating place to come to work every day. I’m very lucky as my workplace is full of small mountains of gorgeous brands like Mulberry, Kipling and Cath Kidston, and at the same time I get absorbed by lovely and charming locally made items and smaller brands that I’ve scouted on my travels. I want my shoppers to get that same cheeky thrill I do.

What are the essentials every woman needs in their wardrobe this season?

A great pair of jeans, a stunning piece of jewellery, a great bag – I love the classic Mulberry Bayswater and of course a beautiful pair of Cocorose pumps.

A huge thank you to Li for taking the time to answer our questions, we absolutely love Orange Tree. If you’d like to know more about Orange Tree you can visit their website at www.theorangetree.co.uk

With the sun making a long-awaited appearance last weekend, it feels like Summer could finally be on its way! The promise of a little sunshine has got us thinking here at Cocorose HQ and we’ve decided to share with you the ways we plan to wear our gorgeous Spring Summer ballet pumps. Maybe these outfit ideas will give you a little inspiration for the next time the sun decides to put his hat on!

Look One – Summer dress

Bright and bold colours are a must have for Spring-Summer looks, we love the way that cute printed dresses look when paired with ballet pumps. A look like this will most certainly be a staple for us this summer! And when it isn’t as warm? Simply add tights and a cute jacket – sorted!

Look Two – Denim

Brighten up a dark denim look like Millie’s (www.millie-mackintosh.com) with a pair of our brightly coloured Classic Elegance pumps – perhaps the Bayswater in Orange? Or something from our Liberty Arts Fabrics collection?

Perfect with…

Or

Look Three – Tweed Two-Piece

A smarter summer option! We love how the pink in the tweed ties in with our gorgeous Bayswater in Pink, a fab and fashion forward choice for your next summery day.

So, what are you going to do with your next sunny day? Have any outfits or days out planned? We’d love to hear! Contact us via facebook or twitter @cocoroselondon.

Spotlight On…Solo Per Te

On April 15, 2013, in Spotlight On..., by cocorose

Solo Per Te was opened in March 2010 by Lesley. Opening her own boutique was something she had wanted to do for a long time and with her children grown up she decided she wanted to devote her new found time to opening up her own business. Solo Per Te strives to offer high quality goods that cannot be found on the high street – something a little different!

With large windows, glass shelves, plush carpets and a spacious feel, the store is undoubtedly luxurious, but Lesley maintains a warm and welcoming atmosphere. But what really makes Solo Per Te stand out is the impeccable customer service that is offered – “We like to make Solo Per Te special by offering a personalised service, spending time with our customers to make sure they find exactly what they want without pressuring them into something that might not be perfect for them”. Lesley knows her customers like the back of her hand and tells us that she even keeps certain customers in mind when she’s buying for each season! She likes to source new designers and especially keeps an eye out for products that are practical with an edge, items that she knows Solo Per Te shoppers will love.

We asked Lesley about her favourite items in her store at the moment; “At the moment it would have to be the beautiful Taisir Gibreel silk scarves, Tasir bases her designs on Scottish landscapes and the colours are just so vibrant and wonderful! Also the gorgeous Spanish handbags from Cats Of Mardrid. And of course, all the Cocorose shoes are great. But  my favourite for this season has to be the Alice from The Royal Ballet collection!”.

Cocorose London are proud to have their shoes in this wonderful store! Lesley tells us a little more; “Cocorose are very popular with all age groups and for different purposes –travelling, nights out when the heels come off and to change into in the evening at a wedding when the dancing starts! And much more!”.

And key trends for the season? Lesley thinks summer pumps will top the must-have list along with wedges and nude patent court shoes, “I also love snake and animal prints on shoes! Very on-trend for the season”.

Cocorose London would like to thank Lesley for taking the time to answer our questions and featuring on Spotlight On. If you’d like any more information or would like to visit Solo Per Te, they can be found at 286 Brook Street, Broughty Ferry, Dundee, DD5 2AN, T:01382 730773 or online at www.soloperte.co.uk or www.facebook.com/solo-per-te

Alice’s Adventures In Wonderland

On March 26, 2013, in In & Around London, by cocorose

Yesterday evening we went to the ballet! Cocorose London hosted a luxurious evening of glitz and glamour at The Royal Opera house in Covent Garden for six exclusive members of press. The purpose of the evening was to introduce our Alice shoe from The Royal Ballet collection in amongst the setting and ballet production that inspired the design of these fantastical shoes. And also to introduce our beautiful new Autumn Winter 2013 collection!

Once our guests had arrived at the Royal Opera House we were taken on a private and very special backstage tour. It was absolutely fascinating to see the inner workings of the theatre and gain a better understanding of just how much work goes into putting on one of their world famous productions. Barry Stewart, our very knowledgeable guide told us that the dancers worked six days a week, rehearsing from 10am until 6:30pm if they weren’t on stage that night and, even if they were on stage, they rehearsed from 10am until 5:30pm and then performed until well gone 10 o’clock in the evening. Incredible! The Royal Ballet dancers work so hard and dance for such long hours that they manage to go through forty pairs of Pointe shoes a month, yes…forty…MORE than a pair a day. It was fair to say that we were all entirely stunned.

After our whistle stop tour we gathered in one of the Trust Rooms, Cocorose’s presentation room for the night and what used to be one of the dressing rooms for the dancers many years ago. In this plush room were tables and tables full of Cocorose London shoes! It was shoe heaven. Our new Autumn Winter collection launches our new pointed toe and pointed loafer styles and, of course, our classic ballerina pumps in sophisticated colours. Cocorose also explained to our lovely guests how the design of the Alice shoe came around and how the bright colours and bold prints were inspired by Alice’s Adventures in Wonderland, the very production they were about to see (which got us even more excited!).

During the intervals we came back to our Shoe Haven for drinks and nibbles, including scrumptious canapes of cheese scones, smoked salmon blinis and butternut squash croquettes; smoked chicken and orange salad and Parmesan risotto; and of course, the all-important dessert of rhubarb crumble with custard and white chocolate mousse with brownies!

Needless to say, the ballet was beautiful, awe-inspiring and left everyone absolutely buzzing. An all-round magical evening! Thank you so much to everyone for coming; we hope you love the Alice shoe and the new AW13 collection as much as we do.

Five minutes with… Tom Bem

On March 15, 2013, in In & Around London, by cocorose

Our newest discovery at Cocorose HQ has been the ‘Pass It On’ E.P. by exciting new music talent, Tom Bem. Tom is from London and has written a collection of catchy songs that have had us bopping around the office all week. When we heard he was a shoe fan too (probably not ballet shoes though…) we knew we had to have a chat with him. After a five minute phone call, we were sold. He not only agreed to answer our questions but also made sure all of our Cocorosers are able to download every song on his new E.P. for FREE! What a wonderful man.

Here’s what we talked about…

CRL: Tell us a little about yourself Tom…

TB: Well, I’m a songwriter and producer from South East London and for the past year I have been show casing my songs under the artist name Tom Bem. I write the songs, sing them and produce them! I am 24 and I  pretty much live in my studio. But that really is only a very little about me!

CRL: We’re sure people will want to know much more! However, the clock is ticking, this is ‘five minutes with’ after all. Tell us how you got into music?

TB: When I was 14 I picked up the guitar for the first time and soon became obsessed. Practising a minimum of 4 hours a day. Being a guitarist seemed like the coolest thing in the world 10 years ago, but now, for me, it was just the catalyst for my career in song-writing and production.

CRL: And describe your new E.P. ‘Pass It On’ to us in three words…if you can!

TB:  That’s-quite-hard? Six-months-work? Lyrically-driven-productions? My-artistic-expression?

CRL: Well that was a collection of three worded answers but we’ll let you have it. So what comes next for Tom Bem?

TB: Gigging and touring! I’d love to see some Cocorosers at my shows!

CRL: And finally, we hear you’re obsessed with shoes, is this true?

TB: Yes! I love shoes. I’ve been obsessed for a few years. I used to spend every spare penny on shoes but nowadays I’ve got this grown-up restriction they call “responsibility” which doesn’t allow my collection to grow at its desired rate. If I were a lady, I’d be wearing a pair of Cocoroses right now! Unfortunately I am not, so I am sporting a pair of white and green Nike blazers.

CRL: Fantastic! Thank you so much for taking five minutes with Cocorose Tom!
